Detail for Haden Cemetery

Description: This cemetery is named after the former community of Haden located east of Tetonia. When the railroad was routed through Tetonia, the entire town including buildings was relocated to Tetonia. The cemetery is still used by the residents of Tetonia and area. The cemetery is fenced and well kept, and has a spectacular view of the Tetons. It includes a recent plot map and index to burials. Note that many maps incorrectly show this cemetery as being on the north side of highway 33. Find A Grave, which has a listing of the burials here, calls this cemetery Hayden, but the town and cemetery have normally been called Haden, probably a corruption of the name of the early Teton valley surveyor by the name of Hayden.

Directions:

Coming from Madison County/Rexburg:
Drive into Teton County on highway 33 heading east towards Tetonia. Just past high milestone 130 you will come to 500 West. Turn right (to the South) and you will be able to immediately park right in front of the cemetery, which is in the southeast corner of the interesection of highway 33 and 500 West. There is no sign in front identifying the cemetery. About 50 feet inside the gate near the middle there is a post with a plot map and an index of the burials which does clearly identify this as Haden Cemetery.

Coming from Tetonia:
Drive out of town to the west on highway 33 heading towards Madison County/Rexburg. A couple of miles out of town, just before milestone 130 you will come to 500 West. Turn to your left (to the South) and you will be able to immediately park right in front of the cemetery, which is in the southeast corner of the interesection of highway 33 and 500 West. There is no sign in front identifying the cemetery. Alert:Some maps incorrectly show this cemetery on the opposite corner, that is the northwest corner of the intersection of highway 33 and 500 West.
