Naturalization Records in Teton County

The Idaho State Historical Society has created an index to naturalization records for the state of Idaho for which they hold the originals. This index is contained in an Excel spreadsheet that you can download from their Naturalization web page, which also includes some important detail about these records. You can find that index at http://www.idahohistory.net/naturalization.html, presently beginning in the mid-1800s and running through the early 1980s. The index includes the person's name, the original source of the record, the type of record, and the date of the record. This is an "in process" project and not all counties are yet included. Keep in mind that this is an index, and you will often find more information by looking at the original document, for which copies can be obtained from ISHS.

This page includes a small extract showing the 81 of these nearly 3,600 records which are tied directly to Teton County. They are organized by date, where dates are known. If your ancestor was naturalized before Teton became its own county, you will have to look in the full index under the appropriate predecessor county. Note also that even though your ancestor may have lived in Teton County at the time of their naturalization, they may have filed papers in an adjacent county.
